My Parents Call Me “Crazy”! 💥

Hello, dear conscious parent💟

I talk to young children in different settings and I hear quite often from them: My parents call me crazy.

My guess is that parents use the word “crazy” VERY loosely nowadays, jokingly or fondly. In other words, parents assume that children know that they are joking… If your child is under 7 years old, he or she DOESN’T KNOW. This level of meta-interpretation of language happens after the prefrontal cortex gains some maturity, usually way after 7 years of age.

I teach parents in my program that they are the GENETIC ENGINEERS of their child’s future mindset, self-worth and beliefs about how the world works. Here’s what Dr. Bruce Lipton, pioneer researcher in epigenetics and cell biology, writes in his book, The Biology of Belief:

“Our thoughts are mainly controlled by our subconscious, which is largely formed before the age of 6, and you cannot change the subconscious mind by just thinking of it.”

I want to urge you to accept that  everything you say or do between the ages of 0-7 of your child, will have a VERY long-lasting effect on your child’s mental health and emotional wellbeing. Instead of “crazy” and other demeaning words, start using this type of language in your family today:

✓ Thank you for teaching me/ showing me…
✓ I am so grateful you are my child.
✓ Every day I am grateful to be your mom/dad.
✓ You inspire me.
✓ Listen to your body and trust what it asks of you.
✓ Tell me what your body needs right now.
✓ May I give you a hug?
✓ I love you (often and for no reason).
✓ Your imagination is limitless.
✓ Your creativity is infinite.
✓ Your opinions are as important as mine or anyone else’s.
✓ Be proud of yourself for yourself. You don’t need my approval or anyone else’s.
✓ Trust your gut feelings. Always ask me for what you need.
